Poem for the Week - A regular ‘poem and photograph’ series

Welcome to our village!

The ‘Appleby - Lincolnshire’ web site, launched May 16 2003, was created to provide a personal and somewhat idiosyncratic presence for our lovely village, Appleby in North Lincolnshire, on the world wide web.

Appleby is rich in history and agricultural tradition, boasting a beautiful Church and stunning village architecture including the 18th century stone cottages, Estate Cottages from the 19th century and the locally renowned Thatched Cottage!

Set in wonderfully rural surroundings it has retained a sense of community and self worth. I am proud to share with you some of the sights, characters and wonders, old and new, that have helped to form my love of Appleby and its heritage, together with an accompaniment of illustrative stories, photographs and poetry.
Seasonal features, local information and coverage of village events will be added frequently - so remember to visit often to enjoy the latest developments.
