A good mix of entries and fantastic support made the 2004 Appleby Presentation and Produce Show a resounding success!
The event was made even more special this year when Parish Council Chairman, Dave Corby, announced that Appleby had WON the title of Best Kept Small Village in North Lincolnshire. Appleby also came TOP of the villages for the Best Children’s Play Area!
An enthusiastic team organised the Produce Show to perfection once again. Those helping this year were Mary & Ralph Welch, Anne Drury, Audrey Stainton, Susan Robinson, Tony & Thora Fisher, Ian Cross, Colin Worsley, Maureen Settle and Jenny Hook. The doors opened at 1pm for villagers to bring their produce. The vegetables, salads and flower classes were especially well represented. It was super to see so many of the children in the village taking part and the quality of their work was excellent. Prizes in that section were awarded to Poppy Veall, Georgia Worsley, Hannah Nevin, Grace Smith, Emily Smith, Christopher Lewis and Jess Plumtree. Ian, the Judge for the children’s classes once again, was heard to comment that all the entries in the Children’s Section were of a high quality and it made the task of picking winner very difficult. Overall ‘Best in Show’ for the childrens section was Poppy Veall with her imaginative Miniature Garden Arrangement.
