Gargoyle & Grotesque Gallery

St Bartholomew’s Church is richly adorned with a wonderful collection of beautifully carved Gargoyles and Grotesques, allegedly based on village characters of the day!
The photographs pictured here were taken in December 2003 and January 2004.
Not for those of a nervous disposition!

The photographs were taken from the very top of the Church Tower with the temperature well below freezing, lit by an early morning sunrise. The wealth of intricate detail can only be fully appreciated from close to. The craftsmanship is truly awe inspiring as is the view.
